Environmental Science Transfer

Program Statement

This program is for students intending to transfer to a 4-year institution to major in Environmental Science, Ecology, Marine Biology, Resource Management or related fields. Students will develop skills and background knowledge necessary to succeed in a Bachelor’s degree.

Program Information

  • The following courses should be taken in the first year to provide the necessary foundation for subsequent science electives.
    • BIO 121 Fundamentals of Biological Science I
    • BIO 122 Fundamentals of Biological Science II
    • CHM 113 Fundamentals of Chemistry I
    • CHM 114 Fundamentals of Chemistry II
  • Choose program electives in consultation with the program coordinator to align with your career goals and specific 4-year transfer program.

After Bristol

  • With an Associates in Science - Life Sciences Environmental Science Transfer degree, students will be able to transfer to a 4-year institution with a solid background in Environmental Science that will allow them to take upper level Biology and Environmental Science classes.
  • Bristol participates in the statewide MassTransfer program and has developed many program-to-program transfer articulation agreements which guarantee admission and credit transfer. For a complete listing of eligible MassTransfer programs, current Bristol articulation agreements, and to complete an A2B Program Search, visit the Transfer Services website to review which credits will be transferred and applied to your degree. 

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: 

  1. Utilize scientific methods for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data obtained from a variety of sources.
  2. Utilize sources from peer-reviewed journals to research topics of interest in environmental science.
  3. Analyze data sets in the sciences using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  4. Integrate knowledge of physical science phenomena and ecological principles to describe the functioning of ecosystems and human impacts.
  5. Illustrate the necessity of including diverse voices from the global community in the scientific process.
  6. Explain the role of science in the context of human history, present applications, and future possibilities.
  7. Present scientific data and ideas effectively in both written and oral presentations.
