CIS 139 : Windows Server Administration
This course provides hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and managing Microsoft Windows Server in on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. Students deploy Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file/print services, and virtualization, and integrate with Azure Active Directory. The course is aligned with CompTIA Server+ and Microsoft Administrator Associate (AZ800/801) objectives. Pre or Corequisite: CIS 134 Networking Technologies or permission of the instructor. Two lecture hours and two lab hours per week. An instructional support fee applies. General competencies met: Information Literacy. 3 Credits. Spring.
Course Outcomes
1. Install and configure Windows Server roles and features for on-prem and hybrid environments.
2. Deploy and manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP services.
3. Administer storage, file, and virtualization services including Hyper-V and containers.
4. Apply PowerShell and remote-management tools to automate administrative tasks.
5. Secure and monitor servers using policies, firewalls, and performance utilities.
