NUR 111B : Fundamentals of Nursing, Part B
This course focuses on basic human needs. It emphasizes the care of people threatened by simple homeostatic deviances that interfere with basic human needs. Students are introduced to the nursing process and clinical judgment model as they develop basic nursing skills in the clinical setting. Evening and weekend hours are used for clinical instruction. Students must receive satisfactory result on their clinical evaluation to progress in the program. An instructional support fee applies. Prerequisites: NURS111A with a C+ (77) or better.
Course Outcomes
1. Describe the theory which serves as the basis for selecting nursing interventions to assist an adult patient in maintaining the ability to meet basic needs
and/or regaining this ability when threatened by simple homeostatic deviances.
2. Apply the nursing process in assisting the patient to maintain or regain the ability to meet basic human needs when threatened by simple homeostatic
deviances.
3. Communicate accurately and clearly wth clients, faculty, the healthcare team through verbal and written communications.
4. Provide information to the patient by explaining planned nursing care.
5. Summarize the roles and functions of members of the healthcare team.
6. Practice in accordance with established legal and ethical standards.
