MAN 152 : Purchasing
A survey of procurement functions, the course deals with definition of function, responsibilities, and relationship to the organization, considering relevant purchasing personnel and assisting them in handling responsibilities. Recommended: MAN 101 and BUS 111. Three lecture hours per week.
Recommended Prerequisites:
MAN 101 and BUS 111.
Course Outcomes
After successfully completing this course students will be able to:
1. Apply the skills necessary to collaborate across an organization, understand and support the organization’s policies, and adapt to the ever changing work
environment
2. Utilize supply chain concepts and vocabulary related to sourcing, quality, transportation, storage, and negotiation strategies to effectively procure, move and
store goods and services
3. Apply principles of materials and supply chain management
4. Understand the importance of supply chain management’s role in today’s business environment
5. Become familiar with current supply chain management trends
6. Develop and utilize critical management skills such as negotiating, working effectively within a diverse business environment, ethical decision making and
use of information technology
7. Demonstrate the use of effective written communication skills as applied to business problems
