ENG 254 : English Literature II
Concentrating on Romantic poetry and the novel, this second semester deals with English writers from Wordsworth to D.H. Lawrence. Topics include women and society, individualism versus industrialism, and the novel from Jane Austen through V.S. Naipaul. Periods include the Romantic, the Victorian and the Twentieth Century. Prerequisite: ENG 102 or permission of instructor. Three lecture hours per week.

Course Outcomes
- Discover historical, thematic and stylistic connections among the various works that we study.
- Gain an understanding as to the evolution of the British empire from the time of the Industrial Revolution through the Colonial and Postcolonial periods.
