Program Statement
The goal of the Chemical Analytics Certificate is to prepare students for entry-level jobs as an Analytical Chemist.
Program Information
Students will acquire the skills and experience necessary to obtain employment as an entry-level chemist through laboratory courses where they will be trained to use current equipment in the field.
After Bristol
After completing the Chemical Analytics Certificate, students should be able to obtain employment in an entry-level position at an Analytical Chemistry laboratory or related company.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this certificate, students should be able to:
- Apply the scientific method to solve problems of a scientific nature
- Solve quantitative chemical problems using the method of dimensional analysis
- Perform laboratory experiments following the general laboratory safety guidelines
- Apply general chemistry and analytical chemistry techniques
- Explain the theoretical principles and important applications of classical analytical methods within titration and various techniques within gravimetric and coulometric methods
- Prepare scientific reports from chemical experiments and do oral and written presentations
